Welcome to The Highlands School!
from Mrs Christine Bennett, Headteacher.
“Thank you for visiting our website. We pride ourselves on being one of Reading's friendliest schools, as well as one of its best, and I hope you will enjoy finding out more about us.
We are a small school, a real community where everyone knows and cares for each another. We have small classes and enthusiastic staff providing outstanding levels of individual attention. Girls stay here until the age of 11 and we have a strong track record of successful entrance exam results for Reading's senior schools in both the maintained and independent sectors. Boys move at age 7 to our brother school, St Edward's. Together our two schools offer an excellent start to your children's education.
I invite you and your children to meet myself, the staff and the children of The Highlands School. We have regular Open Days and individual tours of the school can be arranged for your convenience. We look forward to meeting you soon.
Mrs Bennett, Headteacher.
Welcome from Chair of Governors – Sally Pellow
I first came into contact with The Highlands School in 1995 when my elder daughter started in Nursery. Both she and her sister just loved it here and they both gained places at their first choice secondary schools. I was delighted when I was asked to become a Governor and as an IT manager have been able to bring various skills to the Board. Since I took over as Chair two years ago, we have stepped up the level of investment in The Highlands. I have also encouraged the School to be a little less modest about its strengths, but without losing the quiet confidence which makes it so special. I live in Tilehurst and I am happy to make myself available to speak to existing parents, staff and prospective parents who all see me at all the School’s major functions.
